If you want to confirm what’s actually wrong before you call, you can do that without any special tools. Take photos of the hinge welds, the operator mount, and the post base. Lay a level across the top rail and see which way the gate leans. If you see a crack, don’t weld it yourself. A gate that weighs 400 to 900 pounds is under tension even when it’s sitting still, and a bad weld on a load-bearing hinge or a spring-loaded operator mount can fail suddenly and put the whole leaf on the ground or on a person. Welding on a gate that’s still hanging is also a good way to get burned when the steel shifts.
